Overview

Nestled along the scenic St Kilda Pier in Victoria, the St Kilda Pier Kiosk is more than just a quaint dining spot; it’s a vibrant experience that combines heritage charm with contemporary flavors. This Edwardian-style kiosk, originally opened in 1904 and meticulously restored after a devastating fire in 2003, offers visitors not only a taste of history but also a welcoming refuge after a leisurely walk, bike ride, or fishing trip along the foreshore.

The menu reflects a comforting yet diverse approach to casual dining, featuring freshly made sandwiches, classic fish and chips, flavorful ciabattas, and hearty pies. Breakfast options are also available through its connection with the adjoining Little Blue Restaurant, making it a versatile choice for any time of day. Coffee lovers will appreciate the quality — the matcha latte here stands out, crafted from genuine matcha powder and paired expertly with delicate baked treats like the soft melting moment shortbread. This balance of authentic flavors elevates the kiosk beyond your typical pier-side eatery.

Drinks present another highlight, with inventive offerings such as a vodka-based cocktail infused with chili, perfect for cozying up on a chilly autumn afternoon. The friendly, efficient staff enhance the experience with attentive service that feels both professional and warmly personal, reinforcing the kiosk’s reputation as a community favorite.

The space itself is intimate yet comfortable, creating a cozy atmosphere sheltered from the often unpredictable coastal weather. It’s ideal for casual catch-ups, quiet moments alone, or a relaxed meal after outdoor activities. While some patrons find portion sizes modest, the quality and presentation, especially of featured dishes like the expertly salted salmon, consistently win high praise and invite repeat visits.

St Kilda Pier Kiosk is particularly suited for those seeking a blend of heritage ambiance and contemporary casual dining by the water—a perfect stop for locals, tourists, and families alike. Whether savoring a carefully plated main, enjoying a specialty coffee, or simply soaking in the views, this charming spot is well worth the stroll along Pier Rd to experience.

Overall super satisfied with this salmon, not only the plating is beautiful, but the taste, very on point! There's salt on the skin, but gosh it's goes well with the whole dish and you just want more!! Highly recommended, worth the walk !

We got caught out in the rain while walking along the Pier. The kiosk provided a nice cosy place to have a small drink and lunch. The staff were friendly, and the food delish. I really enjoyed the drink I ordered. I think it was vodka with infused chilli. I have forgotten the name, but definitely recommend it on a cold Autumn day. Will definitely go back again when we are down in Melbourne.

This is a scenic restaurant I have always wanted to go to and constantly appreciate on my strolls down the pier. I finally decided to treat myself to a melting moment and matcha latte and it did not disappoint! The melting moment did it's job and literally melts in your mouth from the first bite. I love my moments a bit softer to the bite and this definitely fulfills that with perfectly baked shortbread. The latte is used genuine matcha, it is not the sweet fake taste you get from the typical café that uses certain blends. It accompanied the melting moment well with flavour contrast. Additionally, service here was impeccable. Staff are kind, efficient and well presented. Overall, I recommend this restaurant for its coffee and service. They menu for a meal looks absolutely delicious though...

The heritage listed St Kilda Pier Kiosk is in a great location and recommended after a stroll or ride along the St Kilda foreshore, or after returning from your fishing trip. It offers both sit down or take away sandwiches, fish and chips, ciabattas, sausage rolls, pies and soup as well as coffee, milkshakes and icecream. You can also order breakfast items from the menu of the adjoining Little Blue Restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the prices reasonable. It's a beautiful Edwardian structure that first opened in 1904 but faithfully reconstructed to its original form after being burnt to the ground in an arson attack on 11 September 2003.

Very nice food but serves are a little small for the price you pay. Great location. Friendly staff. A little cheaper and you'd get five. Went again tonight to try the new menu. Awesome. Very friendly staff.

One of my favourite places to enjoy the sunset. Cafe got sweet and savoury based upon your mood. Best place to spend evenings. If you are lucky enough you can peek at penguins as well. Worth spending time for refresh.

Good place to dine and relax after a long walk. We thought that the food was overpriced but it is actually worth it! It tastes good. Keep it up! They ask you to find a table first before ordering, as you need to provide them your table number. The place is clean and has a pretty view.
